Sunderlal Patwa, a Veteran political leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh passed away on 28th December 2016. He left behind a legacy that will be ever cherished by his friends and followers. An RSS ideologue, Patwa was instrumental in consolidating BJP base in the undivided Madhya Pradesh.
Born on 11 November 1924, Sunderlal Patwa remained associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since 1942 and was even jailed for participating in its movement. As an active worker of Jana Sangh, the political arm of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he hold various important positions including that of Treasurer. He was detained under M.I.S.A. during Emergency from June 1975 to January 1977. Patwa held the position of Madhya Pradesh chief minister for two-times; first for a brief period of two months in the year 1980 and again from 1990 to 1992. First elected to Lok Sabha in 1997 from Chhindwara via bye-poll he lost his seat in the general election the next year. In 1999, he won Hoshangabad Lok Sabha and became a minister in Vajpayee Government from 1999 to 2001. His death was mourned by many eminent personalities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and condoled his death.
Saddened on the passing away of Shri Sunder Lal Patwa. He was a hardworking & dedicated leader whose good work as MP CM will be remembered.
